Custom fields allow you to personalize the content of your messages and can also be used as filters in InputKit reports.
Custom fields are useful for:
Automatically adding information to email and SMS content.
Filtering reports when analyzing results.
Displaying important contextual information within questions used in sequences.
If you use a custom integration with our API, you can, for example, add a custom field for a patient’s age group and then perform demographic analysis in your reports.
How to manually add custom fields in InputKit
Click on your name in the top-right corner, then click on Settings.
Scroll down to Configuration Settings, then click on Custom Fields.
You will then see the two types of custom fields:
Customer custom fields: linked directly to customer information in your InputKit account (e.g., customer first name, date of birth, patient code).
Sending custom fields: related to information specific to a particular sending (for example, an appointment or an order).
To add a field, click on + Add a field.
Enter the field name (field label), define the field type, check Required if it must be included in every sending, then click Save.
How to use custom fields in message content
Once custom fields are added in the settings, you can use them to personalize your message content (email and SMS).
To add a custom field to your content, go to the email or SMS step of your sequence and click Insert a shortcode.
Scroll down and click on Custom field, then select the desired custom field to insert it.
For a single sending
You must enter the value of the custom fields when sending the sequence. These fields are always located at the bottom right of the sending window.
For a bulk sending
If you are sending in bulk using CSV files, you must add a column for each custom field.
When uploading your file, make sure to map the custom fields correctly.
You will then see a preview of the import.
After that, proceed as usual to confirm and schedule the sending.
