In a “Scale Matrix” question, the “Required Question” setting is configured separately for each matrix item. This allows you to choose which items respondents must answer before they can submit the sequence.
Access the question
Click “Feedback” in the left menu.
Click the “Sequences” tab.
Select the sequence you want to edit.
Click the “Questions” tab.
Find the “Scale Matrix” question.
Change whether an item is required
Unlike other question types, the “Required Question” checkbox is not located at the bottom of the general Scale Matrix options.
To display it:
Click the matrix item you want to edit.
Find the “Required Question” checkbox in the item’s options.
Check the box to require respondents to answer that item.
Uncheck the box to make the item optional.
Repeat these steps for each matrix item as needed.
Save your changes.
Does checking this option make the entire matrix required?
No. The setting applies only to the selected item. You must configure each matrix item separately.
What happens when an item is required?
The respondent must answer that item before they can submit the sequence.
